Powderham Show This is a quick note to explain why I as club stand organiser was not on the rally field on Sunday. Pauline & I were on the field for the Saturday event which to say the least was very wet. On Sunday we set off in both the Daimler & the Volvo for Powderham. Unfortunately when we reached Tedburn the Daimler started backfiring and lost all power. We were obliged to call out the RAC, for the second time in 3 days. The initial RAC patrolman confirmed that a recovery trailer was needed. Whilst waiting for the trailer I rang a member of the Crash Box Committee to ask him to convey my apologies for what would have been our late arrival. We were planning to come on then in the Volvo. I subsequently received a phone call whilst waiting for the Daimler to be loaded on the recovery trailer to say that the Powderham Rally had been abandoned on safety grounds as the field was waterlogged. I understand that todays Culmstock rally was also cancelled I am very sorry if you had a wasted trip to Powderham on Sunday. I think that our thoughts must go out to the hardworking members of the Crashbox Club who will have enormous problems on their hands. They are all volunteers and I am guessing that their must be a lot of angry people out there. We should also spare a thought for the Hospice charity which was the beneficiary of this years show. Once again my sincere apologies to everyone Paul Callan, club stand organiser, Sunday 6 July 2.40 PM Link to Crash Box site announcement |

How much Tax do you pay on a gallon of petrol - a history of "highway robbery" from 1896 to date
Don't forget that before the darling tax man gets your petrol money - he has already taken either 22% or 40% income tax from you, plus 11% national insurance - so the effective rates are much higher than the AA tables - god bless politicians of every party !!!!!
